Updates

This blog is almost collecting dust. Initially wanted to post some pictures from my last holidays trip, but I still couldn’t find the time to do so. :|

Anyway, it’s been a busy month. When will work ever end! Well, there’re still several school matters to settle, and I hope to be able to tie up the loose ends soon.

Oh yah, if any students from 2G or 2D happen to hop past this blog, I just want to relay a message to you: Don’t be too upset or disappointed over the Math test if you’ve not done well. At this point of time, it is not the results that matter, but how much you can learn from the failure. It’s really still the beginning, and things will definitely turn out better as long as you continue to work hard! 加油! :)

On a lighter note, tomorrow’s mid-week, which means the weekend is approaching.. hope all lessons and plans will turn out smoothly for the rest of the week!

แอ๊บ!จะได้เจอกันแล้วนะ!! ^^

My Favourite Hangout..

..as far as marking assignments and doing other school-related work is concerned.

And so I was there again today to plan my work for next year.

Ok, that’s just half the truth. I would never fail to indulge myself with a cup of Cocoa Mocha Addiction and Potato Chunks, and grab a couple of magazines (just in case I get bored with all the marking) before settling down at one of those tables at the library cafe.

I find the ambiance there relaxing enough to enjoy doing my work, yet not too comfortable to fall asleep (which is the reason why I prefer to work here instead of at home). Occasionally, I’ll get to see different groups of famous blue "pinaforists" wandering in the library. Of those who’d recognised me before, some were indifferent and others felt a shock first and then ended up with an unstoppable dose of giggles. Very interesting reactions. A few ever said hi or waved to me. I guess that’s just an integral part of a teacher’s life.

I guess I won’t be able to frequent this place as much as I wanted to in the coming year. I hope the price of my potato chunks don’t increase yet again when I visit there in future.

Shooting (Birds)

During the trip to Little India with Boon Thong, I saw a scatter of birds scavenging whatever food was found in the alley while walking towards Mustafa Centre.

At that moment, I was brainstorming on how to capture some interesting shots of the birds, and this idea came into my mind. I’ve seen many cliche shots of girls chasing or scaring pigeons, and wanted to emulate something like that.

But alas.. my potential model was my tall buddy in green, instead of a pretty girl in white dress. This stopped me from having any further thoughts of executing the shot.

So, still wanting to catch the birds in action, I resigned to getting Boon Thong to stomping his foot to send the birds flying away. Looked like the birds cared more about their food than his foot, as most of them continued to eat nonchalantly while only some flew up for a couple of seconds before landing again to compete against the rest for the rice grains.

So, well, not exactly a beautiful and clean shot, but a shot that records fond memories of goofing around with my buddy.

My New Resolution

I’m bored from marking homework in the library, and hence decided to post something up this nearly dead blog.

Well, life’s been fine although I’m down with a stubborn flu that’s still resisting my effort to get rid of it. At least I’ve got something to look forward to every month now. :)

I’ve just borrowed 2 Runner’s World magazine and after flipping through a few pages, I’m inspired to try something that I’ve never done before: Doing at least a 5 km everyday (unless I’m doing some other sports on that particular day).

Before detractors start casting doubts on my resolutions (or questioning why I would waste such time torturing myself by running when I could spend the time relaxing at home), let me explain my reason for making this decision.

I’ve slacken quite considerably since participating in the Singapore Biathlon in the earlier part of 2008. I’ve been bogged down by work in the second semester. I suddenly lacked the same discipline that once helped me complete my first marathon. And the truth is, I missed the times when I was so self-motivated to run. Running was pure enjoyment, as well as a channel for me to relieve stress.

So, starting from today, I’m going to exercise this resolution. Spending 30 minutes a day isn’t too much, considering it can keep me healthy and happy. :)

Ok, 12 more pieces of assignments to mark, and I can go home and do my 5 km. Can’t wait for it. :D

What goes around the world…

…but stays in a corner?

Can you solve it without googling? :P

Love is in the Air

On Saturday, on my way to meet my friends for dinner in Chinatown, I saw this interesting phenomenon while walking to AMK MRT station. I was fortunate to have my rangefinder with me, and managed to capture a shot before the smoke dissolved into the air.

See the heart shape there? I took this picture through the fence by the MRT track. Thanks to the capability of rangefinders, I was able to selectively focus on the heart shape and threw the fence out of focus. I think this is one of the items our fighter plane pilots will be displaying on National Day. Anyone else saw this? ;)

แอ๊บ!! หัวใจนี้แทนค่าควานรักของเรานะ ^^

The Past Week

Yay, I’ve just done a 5 km, and feeling great now!

It’s been more than a week since I last ran, because I was down with a big flu and a nasty sore throat. Staying back in school late everyday the past week and handling the background work for the Open House didn’t help either. Everything turned for the better immediately after Open House ended. Had a fun Wii + card game session at friend’s house on Sat night, and went town to purchase a DVD for my CME lesson yesterday. ;)

Hopefully, I’ll be able to continue my routine jogs and restart my swim sessions in the weeks to come.

And I’m so looking forward to the coming long weekend! Privilege of teachers.. able to enjoy Youth Day even when we’re not that young anymore. emoticon

จะเจออีกนะแอ๊บ! ^^

I’m Back!

Not dead, just on hiatus. ><

Away from Singapore!

Enjoy your holidays people! :D

Final Thai Lesson

Today was my final lesson on Thai Writing and Reading. In recent months, I’ve been routinely going for my Thai lessons every week, and I’m sure I’m gonna miss the classes.

Anyhow, Thai language is considered one of the more difficult languages to pick up (as same with other Asian languages that don’t follow the roman scripts). Nevertheless, the process of picking up this new language is a rather enjoyable one, since I’m also quite into the area of linguistics. Hope my exploration into the Thai language does not stop here, and that I’ll have enough time and discipline to continue with self-learning.

เห็นไม่แอ๊บ เต่าคิดถึงกระต่ายทั้งวันจริงๆนะ ^^
