Qn: Define density.

Ans: Density is how dense an object is.

Witty attempt. Hehe. Got me reminded of myself scribbling anything that I could think of during my secondary school tests/exams in a desperate attempt to score points. I never succeeded.

I couldn’t believe this came from a Sec 1 student.

Recently when I went to Tampines, I saw some signs tied to the lamp posts saying "Share the pavement with cyclists" or something along this line. So I was wondering if cyclists could actually ride on the pavements now (since this was not supposed to be allowed).

I called the Ang Mo Kio North Neighbourhood Police Centre, and as soon as the guy (a policeman, I assumed) picked up the phone, I asked, "Are cyclists allowed on the pavement now?"

"You bullshit." That was the reply.

"Huh? Sorry?"

"You bullshit", he said again.

What the… I thought. This is a policeman?! "Erm, what do you mean?", I asked, a little frustrated.

"You should pushit.. pusshhh ittt."  

I almost flipped. 

It is interesting to observe how students react differently when they happen to see their teachers outside school by chance. Since my one year plus of teaching in this school, I’ve experienced a variety of responses from students who bumped into me in public places.

Some would wave at me and say "hello mr.. !", some would appear surprised with the look that reads "Huh.. that’s mr lin! How unfortunate to see him while I’m out shopping!". Others would pretend they never see me and just walk past without batting an eye.

But yesterday, I encountered a really weird weird reaction from a student. She was happily walking and chatting with friend, but as soon as she saw me in the opposite direction, she went.. (well, just click on the youtube video). 

It’s the time of the year when all students are mugging for exams. Soon after, it would be hard work for the teachers, because there’ll be piles of exam papers to mark!

There are two ways students can make a teacher’s life easier when marking. One way is to get all the questions wrong, so that the teacher just has to keep drawing crosses. Second way is to score full marks for all questions, so all the teacher needs to do is keep ticking. Of course, I would hope for the latter.

So, 加油, people! Study well and you’ll laugh all the way to next year!

It’s Saturday! Well, or what’s left of it. Weekends seem to come faster, especially if you’re occupied with things to busy with everyday. Gave tuition in the morning, and went for 15-lap swim after that. Clocked 18:04 min.. I seriously have no idea how to improve my timing anymore! Anyway, I’m gonna join the Mizuno Run tomorrow, where I would be running on dreadful pebbles in the Bedok reservoir for the first few km. Just hope I can go under 1 hour!

Well, had an enjoyable morning playing soccer with few of my students in school! Despite the hot and sunny weather, it was real fun. But I got tired in the afternoon and napped for 3 hours.

Anyway, here’s the youtube clip that shows how soccer players do diving trainings. It’s not just a simple sports kicking a ball around afterall, sadly.

Yea, quite an old clip.. but I still get a good laugh over it. 

This one shows a compilation of soccer bloopers. Haha, it’s probably the only video you could see a referee being shown red card.

Ok, enough of bloopers. I like this clip a lot. It shows how skilful the soccer players are, especially the later part of the clip. I was awed.
