Portrait Drawing

Whenever visiting Thailand, be it in Bangkok or other provinces, one will never fail to see artists on the streets or shops drawing life portraits, or portrait from photographs, for sale.

I have always been amazed by these artists, who are able to duplicate any portrait photographs onto their drawing board by just using pencil and charcoal. The uncannily alikeness between the original photographs and their black and white drawings is simply unbelievable.

Inspired, motivated, though still untalented, I decided to pick up portrait drawing. Armed with a guidebook, an easel that I recently bought, and some necessary drawing materials, I started to explore this new found hobby of mine. Coincidentally, my childhood art teacher is still teaching in a neighbourhood RC, and with just a low tuition fee of $25 per 4 lessons, how could I resist the temptation to enrol in her drawing lessons once again?

Well, I’m giving myself half a year from now. Hopefully, in September, I’ll be able to produce my first 见得人的 portrait drawing. :D
