The Phantom of the Opera

The morning rain yesterday foiled my running plan, so I got to wake up much later, and spent most of my time at home doing work.

Evening was something to look forward to, as I was to meet a friend for dinner (at Harry’s Steak House@esplanade) and also watch The Phantom of the Opera, the Broadway’s longest-running and most popular musical.

We sat at the first row in the stall seats, and apart from being able to see the stage clearly, we could also see the orchestra play the music. The theatrics was electrifying and I enjoyed every bit of it. Well, I shan’t elaborate more about the musical, because no words can justify the magnificence of the Lloyd Webber’s production. Just go and catch it if you can. If not, be prepared to wait for 10 more years before they come again. =P

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures that I managed to take at the end of the show. Photography wasn’t allowed. =(

She’s the conductress (female for conductor) for both the singers (on stage) and the orchestra (below stage). It must’ve been a tough job conducting both sides and making everything so synchronised, but she made it look so easy. Elegant and constantly smiling, she must be the dream conductress of all orchestra players.

This is what’s happening below the actual stage. Captured in the photo are a violinist, a violist, a keyboardist and part of a horn player.

Well, that’s all I guess. Reached home late, and slept late subsequently. :X
